What are you paying for?

This past softball season September 2020 – August 2021, Long Island Rage charged their parents the low yearly fee of $1,000 each girl. You may think “What do you get for that?” or “What the heck am I paying for?” and these are legitimate questions. Here is what’s included when you join the Long Island Rage Fastpitch organization:

Fall League Play, 2+ Fall tournaments, winter workouts including pitchers and catchers, Spring League Play, 2+ Spring tournaments, Summer League play, 2+ Summer tournaments, an out of NYS tournament and all practices.

“How is this possible?” you may ask. It’s possible because we are a true non profit organization and we charge our parents at cost for the entire year. Along with our fundraising efforts and our generous sponsors we put 100% of all those funds back into our organization for our girls, our teams and our growth. Our coaches are all volunteer and have some type of experience on or off the field and with coaching kids. You may be thinking well I’m on a team that charges an arm and a leg but we have former player coaches or coaches who claim they played at some level. That’s great and we wish you all the best! But think of this first…

Our organization started with our first tryouts in January 2020 and gained 15 awesome and talented girls. Unfortunately, COVID shut us down in mid March until early June when we picked it up again. We headed into the Summer of 2020 with a few weeks of practice under our belts and finished second in the Island Fastpitch Summer League and held our own in several USSSA tournaments. Other organizations that have been around for years were shocked to learn we had only been together for a total of maybe 3 months. Every team we played complimented our coaching staff, our girls and our parents on how we conducted ourselves regardless if we were winning or losing. We had such a fantastic turnout for our Summer tryouts we actually split into two competitive 12U teams and gained an 8U team. This past Fall our 12U Gray team finished 2nd in the Island Fastpitch Fall League. Our 12U Teal team won 1st place in the Monster Mash Aftershock 12U fall tournament. In less than a year this organization has grown and looks to grow even more. All this was done without former players as coaches or coaches who claim they have played at a high level. This was possible because our coaches know and love this great game and believe in every one of these girls and we give them the confidence and trust to play at their highest level and ability.

With that being said, make sure you are getting what you paid for. Always ask questions of your managers, coaches or organization owners. There should never be any issues to explain to parents where their money is going especially if they are a non profit or not for profit organization. We let our parents know everything. We held our Super Bowl fundraising and half is covering a third alternate jersey/pant combo for our 12U teams and the other half will go towards an awesome end of the year party. Always ask questions and make sure you are spending your money wisely. #WeAreAllTheRage
